Mt. Diablo

Every now and then some fundy will take umbrage at the name of the tallest hill in our area, Mt. Diablo (“devil” in Spanish). This name dates from 1805 when Spanish soldiers trying to find runaway Native American slaves called it Monte del Diablo.

All sorts of ideas have been floated for a different name; the current frontrunner is Mt. Reagan, the brainchild of a local crazy who’s been trying for about five years to rename the mountain.

Siwwy Wabbit! Mt. Diablo is already named for Ronald Reagan!
